Blog clutter is the stuff your readers really don’t need, and it serves mainly to get in the way of your content and other vital information. Your content and important pages are the signal, and blog clutter is the noise. You can enhance the first by cutting out more of the second.

The 50 tips in this article will help you unclutter your sidebar, your footer, your posts, and your blog as a whole, and in doing so, enhance the simplicity and usability of your content-centered blog design.

Changing Blog Themes (look of your blog)

To change to your new theme for your site:

  1. 1. Choose a theme from Wordpress Theme Viewer. Please limit your theme choice to one. Each theme has several files and it takes time to upload. We can upload your them usually within a few hours of your request.Please leave in the comment below:

A. Your blog name
B. Name of your theme choice
C. URL where I can download the theme

  1. 2. Give us a few hours to upload the new theme then log in to your WordPress Administration Panel (you should have your blog login and password from email).
  2. 3. Select the Presentation subpanel.
  3. 4. From the Available Themes section, click on theme title (or theme screen shot) for the theme you wish to activate.
  4. 5. To view the new look, click View Site at the top of the Panel’s screen.

Your selection should immediately become active.

Did you Find a Theme for Your Blog?

If you setting up a blog hosted by Heart of Wisdom and you would like a different theme (look) you can leave your comment below.

There are hundreds of WordPress Themes to choose from. Do a Google search for “Free Wordpress themes” or use the Wordpress Theme Viewer (widget ready is best). Remember people may want to print things you write so a white background for the blog entries works best.

Customizing Your Blog

Finding a blog theme to fit your personality is fun. There are hundreds available. You can change your theme at any time so you can blog now and your blog entries will be updated as you change your theme. Once you find your theme we have to upload it to our site. You can begin by looking for a theme here.

When you find a theme put your request in the comments below. Include the theme name and URL so we can upload it to our site. You’ll be able to change it from your admin panel.

Once you are familiar with how WordPress works, it’s time to get creative and start customizing. You can do whatever you want, adding and subtracting, perfecting and scrambling your site at will. The amount of effort you put into the site is now up to you. You can work with the two WordPress Themes that came with the installation, or seek out another Theme that better meets your needs. You can totally customize all the links and information, or get serious and completely re-design the entire site to do whatever you want. You have the basics, the rest is up to your imagination.
