About This Blog

Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, …teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored. Titus 2: 3-5

I’m Robin Sampson. We live in the home pictured above on 20 acres in middle TN. We have a blended family of 11 children and 13 grandchildren. This blog is my attempt to follow Titus 2 (older women teaching younger women). It is a homemaker’s journal chronicling large family life while sharing homemaking ideas and helps.

Disclaimer: Our life is far from perfect. We have all the spiritual and emotional battles others have, maybe more. I am not perfect, but forgiven.  Anything encouraging or uplifting on this blog is from the Holy Spirit. Anything that isn’t is because I wasn’t listening very well that day. I love God and want to serve Him. I fall short daily but I don’t give up.

We have been homeschooling for twenty years. I write books about homeschooling and theology. You can read about them at HeartofWisdom.com/blog. There I discuss spiritual growth, homeschooling, my books, etc. to encourage Christian homeschoolers.

I also maintain Blogging 101 to help explain this crazy world of blogging.

Why on earth do I need another blog?

This is a personal and family blog. I enjoy recording family events. I’ve done it for years with photos and scrapbooks, but a blog is much more effective. I can share and express myself while making meaningful memories for my family. You are welcome to peek into our large family life.

This blog will include:

  • Photo Journal: I began this blog in 2008 but posted many family photos by date to document the growth and changes in my children and grandchildren (much better than a line on the wall in the laundry room).
  • Homemaker’s Journal: Homemaking tips, recipes, and organizing ideas. Recording recipes here will be a real time saver. Not only can I print them off as I need them, but now when my daughters call me on the phone for a recipe I can say it’s on my blog and we can enjoy talking about other things like my grandchildren!
  • A Record of Children’s Sayings: I have spent over 30 years regretting I didn’t write down those cute things my children said. Next time a funny comes out of someone’s mouth I’m off to the computer to record it in this blog for all eternity.
  • Pet Diary: We have four wild cats, three miniature horses, two adorable Great Pyrenees puppies, (sing with me–and partridge in a pear tree). Each one is a family member, and therefore will be chronicled here as well. Our neighbor’s cow pasture runs along the back of our property so the dairy cows are part of our family life.
  • Health Journal: I had open-heart surgery in 2007. I will discuss things I have researched in preventive and alternative medicines.
  • General Ramblings: Blogging is cheaper than therapy.
