The Heart of Wisdom teaching approach is a combination of several teaching methods organized around a two-sided curriculum base: God's Word and God's World. This method is specifically designed for multilevel teaching.

The foundation of the Heart of Wisdom philosophy is to give up man’s standards and lean on God for what He would have us teach our children. Matthew 6:33 is our focus, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

This approach and methods can be used with any curricula. See homeschool curriculum reviews below.

Homeschooling Nutritiously

I like to compare my book The Heart of Wisdom Teaching Approach to a cookbook of nutritious recipes.

I have worked on these recipes for over twenty years; I have altered the ingredients, measurements, and methods (avoiding poisonous ingredients) and finally came up with nourishing and satisfying results that work well for my family. You can use my recipes as outlined, or adapt them to your family’s preferences.

The most important thing is that you use nutritional ingredients.

This cookbook not only provides the recipes but also gives a detailed account of the background of the ingredients and cooking methods to help you make the best use of them.

Section One: Lessons from Exodus

The first section of HOWTA (The Heart of Wisdom Teaching Approach) describes recipes and methods I tried that failed, and how I came to create the Heart of Wisdom recipes.

The main problem with all the previous recipes I tried had to do with the man made poisonous fear ingredient. Any recipe that includes fear will result in disaster.

I addresses the common fears of homeschoolers in this section by turning to the story of the Exodus, with the hope of preparing the hearts of homeschooling parents to wait and depend on God for all of their needs—and to be anxious for nothing.

Section 1 Chapters

Our Homeschool Journey: Escape from Public School

God Called You to be a Part of His Plan

Focus on God, Not on Circumstances

Only Be Strong and Very Courageous

Section Two: Rethinking Education

The second section explains the historical and cultural backgrounds of my recipes.

Here you will learn how it is necessary to sift the proper ingredients and methods by looking at other recipes that have been tried through history. This section includes the origins and development of our traditional educational methods, from ancient times until today, (including an explanation of Classical education) with an appeal to return to biblical methods.

Section 2 Chapters

What Is Education? What Is Wisdom?

A Brief History of Education

Christian Versus Secular Worldviews

Greek Versus Hebrew Worldviews

The Hebrew Educational Model

Why Christians Reject Hebrew Ways

Section Three: Heart of Wisdom Methods

Section Three includes comprehensive descriptions of the ingredients and preparation methods you’ll be using in the recipes. Here the most popular homeschool teaching philosophies and little-known methods are described.

Section 3 Chapters

Overview

Learning Styles

Four-Step Process

Delight Directed Studies

Charlotte Mason’s Educational Philosophies

Writing to Learn

Critical Thinking and Logic

Section Four: Heart of Wisdom Instructions

The fourth section contains the cooking directions—pulling it all together–how to decide on a meal plan, actually combine and prepare the ingredients, and then present the finished product to your students. In this section you will learn about the Heart of Wisdom four-year plan and philosophies for teaching each subject, as well as how to create your own unit studies.

Section 4 Chapters

Overview of the Plan

God’s Word: Bible Study

God’s World: Unit Studies

Creating the Notebooks

Scheduling by Faith

Section Five: Resources (Nutritious Ingredients)

The fifth section includes book lists contained in the Heart of Wisdom four-year plan. This section explains the equipment that should be in every kitchen (books that should be in every homeschool library) and provides hundreds of books by grade level to teach the unit studies. Includes everything you need to teach Bible, literature, history, science, geography and more for twelve years (the four year plan three times).

William Thayer addressed the importance of making wise choices in Gaining Favor with God and Man. He begins by quoting Henry Ward Beecher, nineteenth-century author as saying,

”Books are the windows through which the soul looks out. A home without good books is like a room without windows. No man has a right to bring up his children without surrounding them with books, if he has the means to buy them. It is a wrong to his family. He cheats them. Children learn to read by being in the presence of books. The love of knowledge comes with reading and grows upon it, and the love of knowledge in a young mind is almost a warrant against the inferior excitement of passions and vices. But to select the books—that is the difficulty. Their number is legion.”

Thayer comments,

“Here is an opportunity to exercise judgment, wise discrimination, and criticism ,supplemented by all the good advice parents, guardians, and other friends can bestow. Under these circumstances the choice of books is not easy, but is one of the most important and difficult duties imposed upon the young or old. Yet it must be done, or reading will prove a curse.”

Our book selection should be based on Philippians 4:8: whatsoever is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Section 5 Chapters

Creating and/or Purchasing Unit Studies

Choosing and Using Resources

Resources

Bible Resources

History Resources

Science Resources

Life Skills Resources

Biographies

Classics K-3

Classics 4-8

Classics 9-12

Teaching Methods

The Heart of Wisdom Teaching Approach is a combination of several teaching methods organized around a two-sided curriculum base: God’s Word and God’s World.

This method is specifically designed for multilevel teaching. This approach includes a four-year suggested course of study designed to be repeated every four years through three cycles.

The Heart of Wisdom approach begins with the Bible as the center of education, with all subordinate studies brought into the circle of light radiating from there. Academics play an important part, but they are secondary. Students spend half the school day studying God’s Word and the other half studying God’s world. This approach can be used for all grade levels.

Reasons People May Not Choose Heart of Wisdom

Our main book, The Heart of Wisdom Teaching Approach, is a helpful guide examining what the Bible says about teaching and learning. It explains how to use a combination of several successful homeschool methods. It is intended to be used like a cookbook–adapted to your family’s needs no matter what curriculum you decide upon. You can download 60+ pages from this book here.

We also offer unit studies. To help you to make an informed decision, we offer this list (based on feedback we received from customer’s reasons for not choosing Heart of Wisdom). It in no way is meant to imply that our unit studies are the only worthwhile choice. Everyone must choose based on their individual family’s needs and situation. We all go through different seasons of homeschooling and needs change. We pray this list is helpful

Someone may not want to use Heart of Wisdom materials if they:

Want a non-religious program. All of our lessons are Bible-focused. Our goal is to see Christ in every lesson. There is no way to leave off part of a lesson and not see God in our studies. Our approach focuses on Bible first daily. Read our Statement of Faith.

Prefer self-teaching programs with minimal interaction. Heart of Wisdom is structured so parents are involved (Parents often learn as much as the children). Read about the Four-Step Lessons. Parents spend the most time leading steps 1 and 2 and overseeing childrens’ activities in steps 3 and 4.

Prefer a traditional classroom-type environment, with quizzes, tests and grading. Our approach is a structured unit study (4-Step Lessons) with options for different learning styles.

Feel most comfortable by following a traditional scope and sequence. We recommend and encourage (whatever curriculum you use) to follow the Holy Spirit (see Scheduling by Faith) and the children’ delights. Read about Delight-Directed Learning.

Want to study American history each year. We don’t. Click to view our Scope and Sequence.

Want to focus on the Greek classics of “Great Books.” We don’t. Read our definition of classics.

Want to physically see materials before buying. I wish we could meet you at a curriculum fair but we are too busy writing. We provide free sample lessons online

Want or need telephone support. Read what we offer instead.

Prefer a workbook approach. Some of our lessons include links to work pages but this is not a workbook approach.

Need lesson plans for grades K-3. Our approach is for grades K-12. We offer lessons for grades 4-12. For grades K-3 we recommend following the 4-Year Plan using the Charlotte Mason approach of reading aloud living books on history and science topics. Read about a Sample K-3 Day here.

Need to know now what you will use in the future. We provide the Year One package with lessons. We give recommendations for Years Two, Three and Four recommendations as possible choices (there are many good programs available). See recommendations for Years 2-4

Still Worried About Your Making Curriculum Decisions? There is no reason to worry! I can make one sincere promise. If you pray about your choices–God will lead you. Remember, You Have the Greatest Curriculum Available! You have the best manuscript existing for teaching and instruction! All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). Is the Bible enough if you are teaching a doctor, attorney, accountant, architect, etc.? Do you want them to be a wise, righteous doctor, attorney, accountant, architect, etc.? The Bible is the only place you can find true wisdom and righteousness.

Begin with God’s Word—build your foundation like the wise man who built his house upon a rock (Matthew 7:24).

Pray for direction..

Have faith God that will provide what you need.

Wait on God—enjoy the journey!—be excited about what He has in store!

The key to understanding God’s plan for the journey is in knowing how He thinks. God doesn’t think the way we do, but we always try to relate to Him according to our way of thinking. He’d rather we understood the way He thinks so that we can enjoy fellowship with Him. Using Heart of Wisdom unit studies is just one option for following the four-year suggested course. God has a plan for each of us, and He will lead you to the resources you need. “This is why I tell you: do not be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all isn’t life worth more than food? And isn’t the body worth more than clothes?… Can any of you live a bit longer by worrying about it?… And why worry about clothes? Look at how the wild flowers grow: they do not work or make clothes for themselves. But I tell you that not even King Solomon with all his wealth had clothes as beautiful as one of these flowers. It is God who clothes the wild grass – grass that is here today and gone tomorrow, burned up in the oven. Won’t be all the more sure to clothe you? What little faith you have!” [Matthew 6:25, 27-30]

Of all the books I have read on homeschooling this book is a 5 star! plus. I used Robin’s new book to introduce my son to the approach and also to help me to use the HOW Approach. I am writting my own lessons using the HOW approach as my son has hearing lost and I am deaf (oral/verbal), I also use hearing aids and have limited hearing. You will not be disappointed with the book.

The book has really help me in improving the way I teach and also what I teach and how not to worry about when my son learns something. Just because He doesn’t learn something in 2nd grade, doesn’t mean he can’t do it in 3rd grade. Most schools here in Indiana teach the state history (required) in the 4th grade. I don’t have to do it in his 4 grade year, but can do it now or when he is in 5 or 6 or 7 th grades. As longs as he does do it. All I do is help him learn and let him learn at his pace and when he is ready for something, he does it with delight! Our homeschool experience is much better and most of all I am not burned out as I was last year. I am even experience much delight in our lessons and have learned a few things myself.

It’s here! It’s here! Thank you Homeschool-Books and Robin! I’ve only gotten through the 8th chapter of the Ebook so far, but it’s the best book I’ve read so far, other than the Scriptures, of course.

I am so very excited to get this book! I’ve had this continual feeling that there just wasn’t enough focus on the word or that it was just tacked on for a few minutes each morning. This book will help me accomplish the goal of Christ being the central focus of all we do in our homeschool and life. This is the first “how-to” that I will be able to pass to skeptical relatives and say, “Here is my philosphy on education”. Thank you, Robin, for putting into words what I have needed for so long!

Comment by TAMMI F :

. I enjoyed reading the sample pages, but I am so looking forward to the book. I cannot wait for some encouragement–which I know I will find in this book. I have recently been thinking that homeschooling is getting too tough.

I am reminded by thinking of Moses that God called me to homeschool–not just until it got tough, but until he leads me down another path.

Comment by Chris Gurzler :

Second that — love the samples! Actually, I’m very glad that more of the wisdom you have to share will soon be available. It isn’t easy to leave Egypt and go boldly into the Promised Land, but that is what the Lord would have for us, after all, what He told Joshua applies to us as well, “Be strong and of good courage … for I am with you!”
Your work helps me to remember that truth.

Comment by Michelle R. :

Thank you for your encouraging sample pages. It’s been really hard homeschooling my 5 children and I know the Lord has put it on my heart two years ago to do this and I haven’t been doing well with this. I have been using textbooks and the kids think its too hard and boring and dont want to do it.

My dad gave me this book called”Things We Wish We’d Known” and I had it since Dec. but just read it a month ago.I I read your article in it and I loved it!

I looked up your website on heart of wisdom and teared up because this is what I have been looking for.Praise the Lord! Now this is my answered prayer. This is perfect for all my children to enjoy and have fun.

Comment by Nancy G :

EVERY homeschool parent should read this book. I have been reading this very slowly. There is so much information my Bible is right next to me when I read this book. I was even reading some of it to my children. I know I will be reading this a second time.

I would love for my children to read parts of it. This book will encourage anyone looking into homeschooling or people who have been homeschooling and need some encouragement. Don’t miss this book. It was well worth the wait. I have been reading this after my morning Bible reading before the children wake up. By doing this it is allowing me to stay focused on the Lord and giving me the motivation I need to teach and serve the Lord.

This is the BEST book I have read in my 15 years of homeschooling. This book takes a hard (but is a good way) look at the way we need to teach our children. That we need to train them for the LORD not train them for the WORLD. Thank you, this book came at just the right time in my homeschooling journey. May God richly bless you and your family.

Love the sample pages! Thank you, thank you for the much needed inspiration. I am in tears of relief that someone out there understands and supports God’s word in teaching. I have renewed hope for the coming years.
My little girl is four, so will begin ‘education’ soon. I know now that God is answering my prayers for direction in our education efforts. In Christ. T. Smith

I just purchased this book at a homeschool convention at the beginning of June. It is exactly the tool we need for our family right now! We’ve considered using HOW unit studies after falling in love with the biblical holidays guide.
This book is encouraging me to design our units based on where we are right now and we look forward to using some of the HOW units along the way, too. Thanks so much for all you do to help each family find peace while learning together. Blessings on your ministry!

This book is a must-read for Christian homeschool teachers. With dedicated prayer and insight, Robin Sampson has created a new approach to teaching that filters every subject through the Bible. The framework she provides at first seems complex, but after immersing yourself in it for a few days it becomes very clear and logical. I am so excited about this new school year and I am certain I will learn as much as my kids. That’s one of the best things about this approach.

It is applicable to you as well as to your students. It allows lots of room for creativity with options for scrapbooking, drawing, writing and anything else that can be documented for a portfolio. Even instituting a portion of the suggestions made in this book will revitalize your Christian homeschool and alleviate burnout for you, the teacher.

If I had to choose only one homeschooling book, HOWTA would be the one! Amazing, stupendous work by Robin Sampson! I can’t believe I’m so blessed to have found what I will use for the rest of my homeschool years this early on!

I was homeschooled growing up, and worked in a homeschool bookstore. I’ve seen it all, and THIS is what it’s all about. The resource section alone is worth its weight in gold. I can’t possibly recommend it highly enough!!!

I say WOW after reading HOW. I feel blessed to have stumbled across this book because for me it has been a prayer answered. I found it while looking for information on how to apply the Charlotte Mason teaching method. I withdrew my son from school and started home-schooling him with little warning and no planning.

Although I knew this was the right decision it left me in a difficult position. I either had time to research how and what to teach him or to teach him but not both at the same time. The HOWTA has given me a frame on which to mount the canvas of our home-schooling. There are many great points about this method but there are two in particular which I love.

The first is that is has such a sound biblical base – which is something which is so important to both myself and my son. This really shows through in all subjects.

The other really wonderful thing is that I am inclined to go for a delight driven approach but sometimes lack confidence in this as it has no structure and is very difficult to plan round or collect resources for in advance.

The HOWTA has given me the confidence that I lacked because it shows how to follow the delight driven path while being within a structure. And because it is a biblical structure I feel comfortable and secure using it. I have since purchased other items by Robin Sampson and was not disappointed and I plan to buy more as our home-school journey progresses.

WOW! what a relief… THE SOLUTION is here. I am so relieved to have found this book. The most important key to a childs growth and success in this world is how to obtain and walk in wisdom. This book clearly defines what true wisdom is and where to find it as well as how to teach it. Robin Sampson has done and incredible job in answering all of a mom’s concerns about education today.

I am overjoyed to have this book as a tool to guide me as I help my children discover their hearts of wisdom. Every parent should read this book.

Comment by Kimberly A. Depaolo I :

n her book, rich with biblical and historical references, Robin Sampson makes a solid case for putting God first in home education curriculum. Quite unlike many other books I’ve read, Mrs. Sampson consistently encourages her readers to have God direct their home education efforts not the state, friends, family, etc. After reading this book, I’ve lost those nasty “first time” home education jitters and feel confirmed in my calling to educate my child with a focus on training her in the way GOD would have her go.

This is the second book I’ve purchased from Heart of Wisdom and I highly recommend this author. The first was the equally excellent “What your child needs to know when…” With God as our “principal”, I am confident that we are in good hands!

Comment by Stephani N. Whitaker :

WOW! I am sooo excited about using HOW this year. At the end of spring I began praying about what the Lrod would have me use for curr. this year. I was thoroughly researching the Veritas Press and HOW; after reading all I could about veritas and the HOW book, I have a firm conviction that the Lord wants us to use the HOW for our family from now on! I have throughly enjoyed all the knowledge and wisdom that I have gleened from reading Sections 1 and 2 about rethinking christian education. It has really been a blessing to be challenged to think about the methods by which we educate our children.

I truly desire to pull away from the greek and secular worlviews of teaching and to embrace a more Hebriatic way of educating. There is so much to learn and I know that Robin Sampson has worked very hard to create such a through rescource; but I am very anxious to begin learning with my children all the things that I was not taught in my education; wisdom!!!!!!! A must read for any homeschool parent!!!!!!!!!

While reading this book I kept telling myself, “This is what I wanted/hoped for when I started Homeschooling!”. I am so glad I have found it now. I love the 4 Mat system and Robin’s use of it in her unit studies. She goes into detail of how you can use her unit studies, make your own, or implement someone elses. It fits everyone’s needs who wants a biblical based education for their children.

Even if you don’t want a biblical based education it goes in depth of how to create a unit study of an area where your child shows delight (good example of a horse study). If you are new to homeschooling it helps support your decision and gives resources for you to use that have taken veteran homeschoolers years to discover. It gives you the best of the best!

Comment by Stephanie F. :

This book is a gem! After homeschooling for six years I was needing a new focus. HOW is it! Unlike many books on the subject this is invaluable to both the new and the seasoned homeschool family. It energized us and gave the Biblical focus that we were searching for all along.

Robin’s writing style helps explain her approach to unit studies as well as the Hebraic method in a conversational way. It makes you feel like your having tea with a friend! Her reasoning is solid and her explanations clear. This is a must read for those looking at unit studies for the first time, those needing a jolt of the Spirit in their lessons, or those just wanting a change. It’s definitely at DELIGHT!

A lot of Christians investigating Heart of Wisdom show concern about our focus on the Hebrew people and methods. Why?

Well, it is somewhat normal to react this way– It’s the same as the wrath of a mother bear protecting her baby out of love. We don’t want anything to take away from the perfect sacrifice of Jesus. Any hint of needing to add some kind of work makes those who love Christ and appreciate His sacrifice respond with a knee-jerk reaction –they are being loyal to our Messiah.

I had a similar reaction. For me the desire to protect my belief led me to deeper study and eventual realization that Jesus was a Hebrew and I could know more about Him by studying the customs of the Hebrews in Bible times.

After much study I learned about the dramatic turn from our Hebrew roots in the early church and how deeply man’s tacked-on traditions and Anti-semitism have affected mainline denominations today. Years of misunderstanding make people afraid to learn simple truths about God.

False Assumptions

I didn’t know I was seeing through years of mistranslation until I spent a lot of time studying and praying (please don’t take this as pride in studying—there is no other way to explain it) and working through ASSUMPTIONS from years of teaching. Once you put things into the Hebraic context and read Scripture with new eyes it all falls into place.

Always remember it is not a way to earn salvation or to be better than someone else. The concern that the Hebrews have to earn salvation is a false assumption. (Read a free excerpt from Assumptions That Affect Our Lives)

Quite the opposite–we don’t do ANY thing to earn salvation. Understanding the Hebrew language (how they use verbs for example) showed me it’s not even OUR faith that saves us. In the passages we interpret “faith” as “OUR faith” it is actually “God’s faith” or God’s faithfulness to provide a sacrifice or Jesus’ faithfulness to death on the cross that provides for our salvation.

The deeper I get into the Bible in this way the more I appreciate what God has done for us. I can say that this study has only brought me to a deeper appreciation and desire to be like Christ—never to rely on customs.

Those who have had been blessed to study and learn need to be very careful to never appear as if learning these things would ever take away from the perfect holy sacrifice.

Do You React With Opinion or Study?

I used to react to anything I had not studied with my strong OPINION. I have been humbled with this approach. We must all react to different views by studying what God’s Word says (hermeneutically) before reacting with personal opinion. In Romans 14, Paul is instructing and rebuking weaker believers to keep views to themselves, not to use them as a standard by which to judge others, and to truly study the matter so he will be “fully persuaded” (Paul is actually and presently teaching them so they can be fully persuaded and not remain ignorant, see Romans 14: 22, 3, 5).

No one wants to believe they are “weak,” but we ALL are weak in some areas. I certainly am–I am weak in MANY areas that I have not fully studied yet (such as the return of Christ). Someone else may be strong in this area and weak in others. If you haven’t fully studied the subject, pray about it. Don’t rely on pulpit teaching or opinion. Be a Berean–study and pray and then you can defend your belief.

Which brings us full circle to the main goal of Heart of Wisdom methods–for parents and children to learn to study God’s word for themselves and not rely on man’s teachings–a Hebrew method of teaching your children!.

Fruit Test

A quick way to judge any new teaching (actually, in this case, very old) is to ask “Does it focus on love?” —because Jesus taught that His ways can be summed up in two commands –loving God and loving others.

Walk Softly and Keep Your Eyes on Christ!

If you have been studying the Hebrew roots it is important to remember to use spiritual discernment when talking to Christians that are not aware of our rich heritage. Walk softly. Don’t get defensive –stay humble. If you must disagree do it in a sincere loving manner in prayer. Dr John Garr, author of Restoring Our Lost Legacy: Christianity’s Hebrew Heritage wisely said,

“We whom God is using to advance the radical restoration of taking the church back to its Jewish roots must ever remember that ours is not an elitist, exclusive, judgmental society. We must keep our eyes focused on the ever-moving Cloud of Glory; however, we must build bridges behind us while reaching out to new horizons of faith and truth.

Flexibility adds to our strength. It is never a sign of weakness to reach out to someone else in love and affirmation, even if we do not understand all they believe. Let us continue to work at Hebraic restoration, but let us also mirror the spirit of Christ who came into the world not to condemn but to save.”

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

It includes Bible, history, geography, literature, government, composition, agriculture, religion, science, economics, and more. The lessons are full and require minimum preparation.

The first goal of this book is to inspire students to become “hearers and doers” of God’s Word and to encourage them to search the Scriptures and apply them to everyday situations. The second goal is to teach students a love of learning that will last a lifetime.

1.This book’s focus is on Bible history, as opposed to most ancient-history studies (even many Christian-based texts), which concentrate on the pagans in ancient times, ignoring God’s people. For example, in this book’s Ancient Egypt Unit the focus is on Joseph, Moses, the Exodus, and God’s people (rather than on the pyramids and gods of Egypt). Our Ancient Greece and Rome units focus on the Israelites fighting against idolatry under Greek and Roman rule (rather than on Greek mythology and Roman gods). We also include an in-depth unit study of Ancient Israel.2.This book is much more than a basic history study: It is a thematic unit study. You will lead your student(s) chronologically on a fascinating journey through the Bible as they learn to study, write, research, Literature, Government, Composition, Agriculture, Religion, Science, Economics, and more. As your students study, they will have a number of valuable experiences. They will write essays, summaries, and editorials. They will have the opportunity to publish their work online. They will dramatize and teach others. These activities will develop their ability to think, which is an asset that will benefit them throughout their lives.

“Bible First! Yes, even with history! I love this program for many reasons but this is #1. I think I may be like some home school moms who want to integrate Bible with our daily lessons, but somehow it keeps getting squeezed out by the world’s definition of the ‘necessary’. Robin Sampson has refocused my vision and made me see how truly possible it is to incorporate and make a priority of studying the Bible along with our other subjects…Every time I open this binder I get excited. The potential and the possibilities for learning just jump out at me every time. For those who love classical education, or Charlotte Mason advocates, any of the units in this binder would supply you with ample materials for a good long while…” . click to see full review

Eclectic Homeschool Online

Masterfully authored by Robin Samson, Ancient History: Adam to Messiah offers 787 pages of the most exciting, challenging, real life, Biblical learning adventures divided into 7 unit studies that are sure to transport both teacher and student back to when time began!…Using The Heart of Wisdom Teaching Approach and the Internet you can open the minds, and more importantly the hearts, of your 4th – 12th grade students to God’s Word as never before. While covering a time frame from Creation through the time of Christ, they will learn how to study, write, research, and reason through a wide variety of subjects such as Bible, world history, geography, literature, government, composition, agriculture, religion, science, economics, and art history. click to see full review

At 787-pages, this single volume is loaded with information…I applaud Robin’s courage in creating a curriculum that challenges popular wisdom about what students should learn. She also offers plenty of suggestions—more than you can use in a single year—for resources and activities so you can tailor the study as you please and meet the needs of each of your children…”

“With the current interest in classical studies and their chronological history studies, many Christian homeschoolers are wondering to what degree studying the cultures of the ancient world should be included in their curricula. Concerned about the pagan worldview upon which the Greeks and Romans based their beliefs and practices, homeschoolers are torn between academic excellence and honoring God’s command to have nothing to do with paganism… Heart of Wisdom units present history from a biblical worldview based on bible narratives with corresponding global events…Robin Sampson has created an excellent curriculum. The introductory information explaining how to use the book is concise and easy to understand, and the layout of the book is consistent and well-organized. Ancient History: Adam to Messiah is a refreshing unit study curriculum that will delight anyone interested in history unit studies with a biblical worldview…”

The reason I like this Ancient History study is because it covers a time frame from creation through the ministry of Jesus and includes a study of ancient Israel. I like the mixture of using print resources with resources available on the internet. I am looking forward to seeing the remaining units as they are completed…We have already begun our study of the world using this curriculum and the suggested resources. It is easy to use and well laid out.

“Your work is brilliant!!! I have researched your work for the past few months. I like to use the Charlotte Mason method and find your curriculum MOST informative… ”

“We have studied ancient history, but never like this before… We have studied Egypt, The Greeks, etc but I was always left wondering where God’s people were at and what they were doing during this time period…Now it’s like we are studying with new eyes…”

“She [our daughter] spends hours a day on her assignments. She has learned so much about God and his word and His world…”

“…You have done a fantastic job creating a God centered history curriculum..”

“The books Robin has written and the resources that are shared within HOW are phenomenal..”

“I was drawn to these studies because of the focus on the Bible. But quite honestly, what is keeping me is the quality of content and the ease in lesson preparation!!”

“I have found that using H.O.W. has developed in my daughter a love of the bible and has made a great change in her I knew I would love the material because of my life-changing experiences with the other books by Robin. I love going deeper with my girls in the Word…I feel a real sense of purpose, vision & accomplishment.”

“…My children and I LOVE it. I have never seen anything quite like it. It is so wonderful to be able to use something where the children (and myself!) not only research historical events, but discover scriptural truth and evidence in them also. It is so fascinating! ”

“I L-O-V-E it. I am praising God for this marvelous curriculum!”

Author: Excited!
HOW is the best curriculum I have ever seen and/or used in the secular or Christian homeschool market- bar none! Nothing compares to it at all!! According to the kids- and me! However, it is tied in popularity- according to our children, not just me-with one other Hebrew based curriculum that had activities more to their liking (not so much writing all the time, every lesson, but more visual things ready made, to aid them), but it does not use internet links, which we LOVE. So we blend both curriculums together when possible. Thus we will continue to use HOW. It is extremely comprehensive in it’s coverage of a subject. Nothing is left out. Plus- you don’t have to buy any key resource books if you cannot afford it. You can use the internet links and still cover everything in detail! So it is quite economical for families with small budgets. THAT is liberating in itself! We loved all the internet links. There was no way you could NOT learn, or miss something with the abundance of links for each e-book. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking for the truth in history/ science told in a non-threatening way. Not doctrinal teachings, but the actual truth, no matter where that leads for your children and you. And what could be more Biblical than that? The Bible incorporated into daily FIRST readings, as the primary curriculum, was the best thing we have ever done for our children. The perfect way to start a day, instead of trying to fit it in as a small subject. IT IS the subject, then all else falls in around it. And as Robin said once, if you get nothing else done that day, at least the most important thing has been finished. THAT is what we want for our children. The firmest foundation possible.

My daughter (10th grade) never thought she would like unit studies. I convinced her to give HOW a shot and now she is begging for more. She spends hours a day on her assignments. She has learned so much about God and his word and His world. Thanks…

…great overall experience. You have done a fantastic job creating a God centered history curriculum. My kids are never very excited to study history, but when we start to get into it, they all seem really take an interest, & have learned so much…

We have studied ancient history, but never like this before… We have studied Egypt, The Greeks, etc but I was always left wondering where God’s people were at and what they were doing during this time period…Now it’s like we are studying with new eyes

I am overjoyed to find Hebrew definitions and meanings included in the lesson studies. I know that God intends for my family to apply His Word in every part of our lives. Never was there an intention that we separate education and spirituality…

I love Heart of Wisdom. I am so grateful to the Lord for bringing this program to my attention. Your web site has also prodded me toward learning about Hebrew roots and Biblical Holidays. I feel like I’m entering a whole new world in my relationship to the Lord. I am using HOW as the history program for my 11 year old and we are learning so much together. My high school son is using HOW for his Bible curriculum. It will take my younger son 2 or 3 years to complete and my older son only has 1 year left of school so he will finish it in one year. I am so excited to be putting this material into both boys hearts so that they can have God’s wisdom and make wise decisions for their life. Thank you so much for this program! It is making a big difference in our lives.

I used Sonlight as a beginning homeschooler and appreciated the layout of timing & material usage (& the wonderful books), however; the H.O.W. focus point reaches for a greater depth in the study of and relationship with God that is precious to my soul and to the heart and focus of my family. THIS (H.O.W.)is the way the Creator of my family has beckoned my heart to rear these children I’m blessed to have. Thank you, Robin, for obeying the Creator in your responsibility with H.O.W. so that I, in turn, can obey Him in my responsibility with my children. This curriculum achieves the high hope my heart held for our homeschooling experience and my personal experience as a mother and an ever-learning believer. Importantly, too, lessons are already planned out for easy preparation. What a joy I count it all!

This is a great curriculum! We have been putting together our own bible based unit studies for years. This year due to health problems and less time we would have to purchase something already laid out. I thought I would have to settle for a lesser curriculum. I am using HOW with one daughter now (age 14) and another (age 13) will soon join her. I love it. It is so versatile both in use for different ages and in activities for different learning styles, etc. It is the first Bible study plan that I have stuck with for more than a week or two. Plenty of variety in this area too. The lessons are well-written and offer many resources, both books and Internet, so there’s no trouble finding information for research. The web site gives lots of ideas for simplifying it for younger students too as well as tons of good info on educational philosophy which I love reading and rereading!

Using HOW has been a life-changing experience for our entire family. We spend more time together in God’s Word and are growing in our understanding together! Learning Israel’s history has been a tremendous benefit to understanding all of history, past, present, and future. Also, learning about our Hebrew roots has brought new life to our relationship with God thru Jesus Christ. The Science Units are wonderful as well, tying it all together in the creation order. We are just beginning the Wisdom Unit and are gleaning so much already. I know that God orchestrated HOW becoming part of our homeschooling.

My 16 year old has always been in Christian school until last year. He has always struggled to learn and hated school. Last year I saw him beginning to rebel like so many others his age. I did Abeka last year at home with him and he hated it too. All summer I searched the web for something better and when I finally ran across the Heart of Wisdom web site, I felt my spirit dance inside me. I knew in my spirit that this is what the Lord wanted me to do. So this year I began my son, a junior on your program and he is thriving. His moods are better. He does his school work without being asked and is eager to do it. He does not argue hardly at all. He got grounded for not finishing some work and when I told him he could not go out with his friends until he finished his work, he did not argue or nothing(it was 4 days). It just goes to show that when we do things the Lords way He blesses us. I thank God for all the work you have done on this and will be doing. May God bless you and all your gifts to His work!!

I first heard about HOW from a book called “The Things We Wish We’d Known” I was depressed with what I thought were my curriculum options, and was looking for some encouragement. I found your article and immediately used the address listed in the back of the book to find your books. Read as much as I could, prayed about making this huge change in our schooling. It’s frightening to toss out the textbooks. We have loved the change to HOW curriculum, I wish I had made this change years ago. I have always wanted to teach this way, but I was afraid of my own short-comings. I was afraid I didn’t have the knowledge that it would take to successfully teach my children without textbooks. We had started a timeline, but it sat undone because we didn’t know where to find the resources to complete it. We started studying and celebrating the Biblical feasts; you gave us the nudge we needed to have a full experience of the feasts, without feeling like we were neglecting our school studies. We are thrilled with the change to HOW, school is finally the way of life we had wanted it to be. Thank You from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for all of the time and energy that you have put into this work, so that other mom’s can be a success.

What has absolutely helped me more than anything else is the 4 step lessons applied to our Bible time. I LOVE setting aside the first hour and a half each day to pray, worship, and study together. Our children are 7, 8 and 9 (almost 10), and their 4th step includes writing assignments, penmanship, dictation, map work, drawing, coloring, study of additional resources, and the occasional “project,” such as a diorama, salt dough map, or role play. THANK YOU for challenging us to use the Bible as the “heart” of our studies. By the way, we only get through a chapter or two each day, but that works for us…we figure we’ll finish the Bible in about 5 years! We are using the NIV for now so that everyone can help in the reading.

It has been a terrific resource for my own study which, in my opinion, is without question the most undermentioned area of homeschooling across the board for new and seasoned homeschoolers alike. Had I had this year’s I am certain my approach toward “unschooling” would have been much less a factor, though honestly I am thankful I did it that way, then plowed on forward into my own understanding of “education.” I knew this was what God had intended for me after a very short time on your web site. I may not utilize all lessons or resources with my kids, but those we do are memorable to all of us. His timing is certainly not mine, come to think of it…and in all likelihood I would have had very unrealistic expectations on myself and my two children if I had found this earlier… I bought your What Your Child Needs to Know When;updated, years ago and recently brought it down to reread it. I didn’t have benefit of reading the first edition but appreciate your admitting to stepping down from earlier conceptions of what is acceptable, grade level, even Biblical or Greek in reference to those timetables we all have whirling in our heads. One confirmation God often gives me that I am plodding along the path intended for my family (OK perhaps not the path but at least on the map somewhere) is continued revelation to just how faulty my conception of education is was and continues to be and how HE continues to encourage my enlightenment despite my relentless insistence on using the compass rose of others. Thanks again Robin!
I LOVE HOW! It’s really cool. I really like the 4 Step curriculum and how it has a biblical approach… there are so many curriculum writers out there that take the “I believe in everything” approach to not offend anyone. Keep up the good work.

The Heart of Wisdom approach recommends immersing your children in living books or classical literature. We believe you should read the greatest classic—the Bible—the only real, literal, living book, daily, and attempt to read several classics throughout the year.

What is a Classic?

What is a classic book? The answer depends on who you ask. A classic to a Christian can be quite different from the world’s definition. In a broad sense, the term classic is applied to anything accepted either as a model of excellence or as a work of enduring cultural relevance and value. The differences between Heart of Wisdom’s classical list and the classics included in classical secular education are the book lists.

Classics According to Classical Education

Encarta defines classical education as the study of Greek and Roman literature, one of the oldest forms of education known. In classical education, a classic is any ancient Greek or Roman literary work of the first or highest quality.

The modern classical approach focuses on the Great Books of the Western World (GBBWW). Virtually every book in this collection is required reading in a liberal arts curriculum, and includes works of art, science, philosophy, poetry, prose and history from the time of the Greeks until the early 20th century. Plato, Herodotus, Virgil, and Aristotle are some of the main authors. This list was developed by Mortimer J. Adler and Britannica Editors. They believed these books were the core of Western learning and culture. Most of the books on this list were written by non-Christians, men like Aeschylus, Apollonius, Aquinas, Dewey, Euclid, Euripides, Freud, Hippocrates, Homer, Marx, Plato, Ptolemy, Muhammad (the Quran or Koran), Thoreau, etc.

Classics According to Heart of Wisdom

Heart of Wisdom’s suggested books lists include models of excellence or works of enduring cultural relevance and value, and do not include mythology nor books by the ancient Greek philosophers.

I loved this study! Forthe first time in my life I understand the chronological and geographical events of the Bible from Creation to the New Testament! My children really enjoyed it and had fun with all the maps. It was presented in a way that was easy enough for my 8 and 10 year old to grasp but also included enough meat for my 12, 14, and 17 year olds. We printed out the maps (Assyria, Babylonia, Persia, etc) from the HOW Internet site and charted each Bible event and location in the portfolios. Keep up the great work! —Debra Canton, Mom of 5

We are very excited about this “renewed” style of learning and the Hebrew based education that has become the center of our lives. We are so very grateful for everything that Robin has created within Heart of Wisdom.

The books she has written and the resources that are shared within HOW are phenomenal. HOW has paved the way to many an enlightened discussion in our bible studies and around our lunch and diner tables. Thank you for such enrichment.

I was drawn to these studies because of the focus on the Bible. But quite honestly, what is keeping me is the quality of content and the ease in lesson preparation!! I plan on staying with these studies as they come out. We are currently doing the Wisdom study and I absolutely think it is outstanding.

I would highly recommend HOW to anyone who has been intimidated by the preparation involved in doing Unit Studies. Robin has done a wonderful job in selecting resources and activities.

**********

We just started using the Heart of Wisdom unit studies and we all find that they are truly a blessing. I started by ordering the Light e-book and then I realized that I should start with Creation and then do Adam to Abraham. I ordered all the key resources, even though I do not need them. I am still waiting for a couple to come in. We are all looking very forward to it!!! Thank you and God Bless.

**********

**********

**********

I have to tell you that finding your site was truly a Godsend. I’m brand new to homeschooling and had this idea in my mind of what God wanted me to do with our children and our family, but I had no idea where to start. When I began reading all of the material on the HOW site it was as if God were speaking directly to me. HOW is awesome! My children are in K – 2 – 7/8.

**********

This is my first year with HOW. I have now been teaching with it for about 6 weeks. I am still learning A LOT but am getting a little more comfortable with it. I still allow the children to spend too much time in all the different activities, but we are really enjoying it, and I feel, we are all learning a lot. I love being in the Bible more, textbooks less, and seeing how the Bible relates to our lives today.

**********

HOW is the best curriculum I have ever seen and/or used in the secular or Christian homeschool market- bar none! Nothing compares to it at all !! According to the kids- and me!

**********

I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking for the truth in history/science told in a non-threatening way.

**********

Excellent array of resources, enough so that I don’t have to do too much work in watering the material down for my pre-K, K, and 1st graders.

I love the Hebraic focus. HOW Ancient History is very complete, easy to use and we love the Hebrew vocabulary lessons. We already had a few of the resources. (Writer’s Express, Beechick, Kingfisher) I have circulated this through our homeschooling support group and you have subsequently gotten a lot of exposure and three orders of “What your child needs to know when”, and another HOW unit study order. Thank you for excellent resources!!

**********

We finished the Creation Unit and we will be starting Adam to Messiah this week. It looks very well written, and has many resources to choose from. We enjoyed the Creation Unit.(Evolution is a very confusing topic, I think Creation is actually easier to believe and understand.)We are anxious to start our next unit Adam to Abraham.

This is the approach I’ve been looking for. It’s truly BIBLE BASED.

The Lord has put a great love in my heart to return to the Jewish roots from which Christianity arose. I am overjoyed to find Hebrew definitions and meanings included in the lesson studies. I know that God intends for my family to apply His Word in every part of our lives. Never was there an intention that we separate education and spirituality. God has a plan in HOW studies. Finding my niche and enjoying it all the way!

**********

We went to HOW for its Hebraic centered teaching and approach. We had been focusing on the Classical method but I didn’t like the Hellenistic approach and the almost total lack of Jewish presence.

**********

We have loved it so far, though we are moving slowly through the material for greater retention of the truths. We have only been using the materials for 1 month. I believe HOW is an answer to prayer & it has been a great blessing to my family. We are using Creation & Wisdom currently.

We are only a few lessons into it & already my 14 yr. old is planning to put a Creation Science Club together [there isn't one in our area] in order to encourage/ teach others the truth of a literal, 6 day Creation & its foundational importance.

The units are teaching ME so much. The Wisdom unit has been very convicting & has led to many precious & invaluable discussions with my children. I so appreciate the ease of use & the fact that HOW can be used in the way God leads a particular family using it. Because of this ability to flex to the family & be individualized, How keeps learning engaging & interesting rather than dry. Thank you Robin for all of the hard work you’ve put into HOW!

**********

I am using the Ancient History: Adam to Messiah bound book and I thoroughly enjoy it! My children like being able to choose their own activities and they can be as simple or complex as I need them to be according to the ages of my children. Thanks for such great materials to teach my children!

**********

I have just begun to use HOW for first year history – Adam to Messiah. I LIKE it A LOT! I searched for a year to a year and a half for a Hebraic homeschooling method. The Lord definitely led us to you and we are thankful and excited! I struggled on my own before, but now I have in my hands what I need and a suggested course of direction that we alter as the Lord leads. This year has definitely started off much better than in the past and we look forward to the remainder of the year! We are looking to purchase the Creation unit study shortly. Thank You!!!

**********

We have done unit studies for the last 4 years and started this one this year. I knew we’d made the best decision when, after reading one of the “Excite” sections, my 6th grade daughter declared, “I just love how this is written! It’s easy to follow and understand and really catches my interest!”

**********

I love all the information, I am very supportive of your work to heavily integrate the bible and Hebraic roots into this curriculum and that is what interests me most.

**********

I love HOW…we got past the 11th chapter of Genesis (which we spent a semester on)… Over all I LOVE the book and plan to use it till my child graduates ….thank you for the effort, time and prayer you put into this bo ok….

I’m planning to take my oldest from Creation through Present and use all the Science & Life Skills when she reaches High School. The younger children follow along at their own level. Thank you for providing RESOURCES FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN. We’ll purchase units and use them as finances allow and rely on God to fill in the rest. I’m positive He will!

We started with the Creation Ebook. So much was learned. There are so many offerings in each lesson and it is wonderful. Thank You!

**********

It has been a terrific resource for my own study, which in my opinion is without question the most undermentioned area of homeschooling across the board for new and seasoned homeschoolers alike, Had I had this years I am certain my approach toward “unschooling” would have been much less a factor though honestly I am thankful I did it that way then plow on forward into my own understanding of “education”

I knew this was what God had intended for me after a very short time on your web site, I may not utilize all lessons, or resources with my kids but those we do are memorable to all of us. His timing is certainly not mine, come to think of it…and in all likelihood I would have had very unrealistic expectations on myself and my two children if I had found this earlier.

I disagree with Mary Prides magazines’ recent critique of HOW , in that I would never classify it mainly to families with lots of children. That was certainly never a consideration of mine. Just thought I would mention it as I found it odd!I also didn’t include in the above survey any intention of using some of your newer units. Would love to and will at some point I am certain but trying to prioritize and eliminate so much of what I have already purchased in the last 6 years(would fill a “real” classroom or two) but can’t say I am not tempted when I see them…I bought your What Your Child Needs to Know When years ago.

One confirmation God often gives me that I am plodding along the path intended for my family(OK perhaps not the path but at least on the map somewhere) is continued revelation to just how faulty my conception of education is was and continues to be and how HE continues to encourage my enlightenment despite my relentless insistence on using the compass rose of others. Thanks again Robin!

**********

This is a great study for the whole family… even my husband and college-aged son get in on some of the studies in the evenings. We also have a neighbor boy or two who occasionally join us in the afternoons for some of our best HOW studies that I save to do with them. ) My only negative is that my boys still don’t like to write, so assignments can take a long time to get done. I love to writ e… so does my sister and my nieces, so I don’t know if this is just a boy thing of not liking to write or what. They far prefer projects that don’t end up on paper in a notebook… this is starting our 3rd year using HO W…

**********

Dear Robin, At least 8 years ago I began looking into FAR ABOVE RUBIES and using it with my daughter. Thank you for making that available. After reading about H.O.W.in WHAT YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO KNOW WHEN, about 3-4 years ago, it Changed my life.

We dropped everything and began one of our best years ever. We just used the bible and other living books I had on hand, all three children (16,11,3) working together enjoying the Bible just from what you outlined in the book.(no extra money) Just implementing what we already had, never having had time to use before. I can tell all the hard work you put into Heart Of Wisdom Unit Studies come from what you have done with your own family, and it is defiantly an upgrade from FAR.

Thank You so much. I have Homeschooled for 15 years. I really have enjoyed using Your new study Adam to Messiah, once I finally got brave enough to down load it .I absolutely love it. (I am new to computers) But the links from the books are definitely worth it. Now I am ready to buy more Ebooks. Its not that hard or scary after all. Thanks again.

**********

We have had only positive times since we started HOW, our 5yo is coming along in leaps and bounds with her biblical knowledge which is always encouraging to see in your children. I put this sudden growth in her down to the discussion and writing/drawing that goes on after we have read a bible story rather than just the reading. I could go on and on about how changing to HOW and the 4 step lessons has been a positive change for our homeschool.

I love the Heart of Wisdom unit studies. My children are excited about school since we started these unit studies. My main reason for home schooling was to teach my children that God is the center, beginning and end of everything and this curriculum does just that. Thank you Robin.

**********

I love the approach, that it’s Bible based, and the great support found on the web site! This curriculum is so well organized, and it’s obvious you poured all your love into it! If anyone wants the curriculum they use to double as a “witness”, they should use HOW!

**********

You’re work is brilliant!!! I have researched your work for the past few months. I like to use the Charlotte Mason method and find your curriculum MOST informative. My family has homeschooled for almost seventeen years now. We try to keep most of our studies family based for group learning despite the different age levels. You have provided us with the Best layout plan for the most important subject, the BIBLE.

**********

I wanted to let you know just how much I appreciate the Ancient History: Adam to Messiah unit study. My children and I LOVE it. I have never seen anything quite like it. It is so wonderful to be able to use something where the children (and myself!) not only research historical events, but discover scriptural truth and evidence in them also. It is so fascinating! Some day, when my life slows down a bit, I would like to do what my son is doing in your book. Thank you so much for the time and effort you spent in putting this together. I can’t wait for the next unit that comes out!

**********

We have studied Creation and ancient history, but never like this before. I love how Robin has integrated God’s people into ancient history. We have studied Egypt, The Greeks, Mesopotamia, etc but I was always left wondering where God’s people were at and what they were doing during this time period. The curriculums we used gave us Biblical events and dates so we could see how the Bible lined up, but not really fitting it in with such detail. Now it’s like we are studying with new eyes! I think Robin has done a wonderful job. –Blessings,

**********

I L-O-V-E it. I am praising God for this marvelous curriculum! I am thanking Him for your steadfastness and dedication! Thank you to you, too! This is just what I have been looking for, and I am thrilled to have it available to us!! There is no labor that isn’t a thousand times more than planned – I just *know* that you will be reaping HUGE blessings from your labors with HOW for a l-o-n-g time to come. On the days that it really gets too much – PLEASE remember what a HUGE blessing you are giving many sincere Moms who are VERY grateful and thanking God for your work!

**********

We are just getting started on this journey and I already love it. I am so pleased to find an hebraic approach to learning that is for the entire family, not just the school-aged.

**********

I am using HOW with one daughter now (age 14) and another (age 13) will soon join her. I love it. It is so versatile both in use for different ages and in activities for different learning styles, etc. It is the first Bible study plan that I have stuck with for more than a week or two. Plenty of variety in this area too.

The lessons are well-written and offer many resources, both books and Internet, so there’s no trouble finding information for research. The web site gives lots of ideas for simplifying it for younger students too as well as tons of good info on educational philosophy which I love reading and rereading!

**********

My daughter has greatly enjoyed your creation unit and the Adam to Messiah unit. I purchased only the first two units in ebound form(would love to have them in book form). We just finished these studies. We took longer than the recommended schedule. I am currently taking a short fall break, as we started in the summer, and am trying to decide whether to purchase the next two units(one science and one history). I love your heart and focus on the scripture…

**********

I love the various internet resources. Most of them have been accessible and worthwhile.

**********

I really appreciate the internet links and reference lists. It is a big help, and reduces the time needed to prepare lessons. We also appreciate the reference to bibles verses in each unit. We are really enjoying our study of Ancient History – Adam to Messiah.

**********

I have found that using H.O.W. has developed in my daughter a love of the bible and has made a great change in her character development….and there are sooooo many things that catch her interest that at times she finds it overwhelming till we sit down and go over what it is she wants to accomplish for the year…and gives us a sense of focus…..

**********

I found out for us that trying to use all resources was too much and cut down on the internet links and a few books. Above where it asks about computer use. My children will not be using the computer till at least 16 or 17 depending on the child. Also of much help to us, we began using the Robinson Curriculum method with your books and my printing the unit page for the children as to which books they were to read. Later we will incorporate back in more of the assignments but we are in the middle of something else. We have a lot of discussion around the books we read from your units and it all relates some how to whatever other Bible Studies we are doing. There is a real depth there that we might not have had with out HOW! We are very pleased.

**********

We have enjoyed using your unit studied this far. My children are learning, but I do not think the realize how much. I enjoy starting with the Bible and making it the central theme. I know that this is the path that the Lord would have for my family as He continues to affirm this decision. We are excited everyday to see what we will be doing in the next lesson. I am able to do all my planning one day at a time and am not be overwhelmed with any of it.

**********

I love the format of the unit studies and find them to be easy to use .Thanks oh and by the way my children love them too.

**********

Your materials have been very helpful in teaching me how to draw Scriptural applications into all of our daughter’s lessons. Keep up the good work.

**********

LOVE IT! I already loved The Biblical Holidays Book that we started using last year. Then I loved the What Your Child Should Know When book I purchased after that. I was feeling more and more freedom as a Mom/Educator and growing to understand even more fully, WHO I AM as a Christian! (Geez, I’m 38, it takes soo long, it seems) And then, I accidentally found this site (haha) that pictured these 2 books that I already LOVED as resources…only to discover that ROBIN is the author of the whole curriculum!

I felt like I had hit the jackpot. I already knew I would love the material because of my life-changing experiences with the other books. I have recommended these materials to mothers over and over and over! I love going deeper with my girls in the Word. This was lacking terribly for our first 3 years, but I didn’t really ‘get’ what was discouraging me so. Now, I feel a real sense of purpose, vision and accomplishment. I praise God for how we are growing. I know we are just scratching the surface on all He has to teach and show us. Worship time is also very important to us, and that has gotten put aside a little for this, so i need balance. …. We just love it!

**********

**********

We are studying how to apply this system with our children. We can see God`s hand in this material. This is a tremendous revolution for parents willing to serve the Lord. Thanks for being a blessing for our family. God bless you with more wisdom.

**********

I am just getting started but what I appreciate best is that HOW gives me a game plan for teaching what I want to teach my children. It gives to me what I don’t have time to research and plan by myself.

I am very excited about these studies. It is exactly what I have been looking for. I am using it with my 2nd grader. I think it is great! …

Read the definition: Expressing, in words, actions, and thoughts, value to the actions of God and others the ways they have served me. Read the Bible verse: God’s Word says, “In every thing give
thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Step 3. Do something with what was learned:

Students can copy or dictate the Bible verse and/or the definition (younger children can narrate the meaning orally).

Or students can write or narrate a story about the character trait.

Step 4. Share with another:

The purpose is to show appreciation sometime today. Share how you showed appreciation with
your parents.

Click for more on HOW 4-Step Methods

Watch for a Teachable Moment

Wait for a child to show a positive or negative character trait.

Example: Susie won’t share her toy with her younger brother. Take Susie into your lap and discuss generosity. Read the definition and Bible verse listed under “generous.” Ask Susie how
she can show generosity.

Reinforce positive behavior by pointing out positive character.

Example: Johnny listens attentively to a lesson. Read the definition and Bible verse listed under “attentive.” Congratulate Johnny for being attentive.

To understand the Early Church we must dig through layers of a mountain of man’s influences shoveling off and discarding man’s traditions, theories, interpretations, and philosophies from Greek and Roman civilizations, Aristotle, Constantine, Marcion, etc., to be able to examine the Early Church.

During the Reformation, men such as Wycliffe and Calvin were digging in the right spot. They dug up and discarded many theological errors and found a view of God’s plan of salvation by grace, but anti-Semitic layers remain and now there are new layers of tradition, interpretations, western thought (a return to the Greek and Roman philosophy) and conditioning that need removal. Only then can we have a clear view of the Early Church.

Greek philosophy between Aristotle and Augustine is the foundation of Western thought (Aristotle tried to merge the Bible and Plato = Hellenistic Philosophy). This is the reason for so much Greek philosophy in the church.
