What About High School Credits

The school system requires a student to spend 180 hours (45 minutes a day for 5 days a week x 36 weeks) in one subject to earn one credit in that subject.

Each state has different credit requirements (usually from 14 to 22).

A high school student can earn 26.5 credits completing the Heart of Wisdom Four Year Plan (including Life Skills Unit Studies and a math program).

Record Keeping

You can keep records of your students work with points. Count each 45 minutes to one hour as a point. One credit is equal to 135 points. If you assign your student an essay on the Roman Empire it could be counted as points. If (s)he spends weeks at the library and gathers dozens of sources, you would give assign the appropriate points. Likewise, if (s)he only threw together a few paragraphs or does much less than you were expecting, record the points accordingly.
